SECOND UPDATE: Didsbury RCMP now clear from scene of vehicle fire, no injuries reported

UPDATE: June 21, 3:05 p.m.

On June 21, 2024, at 11:59 a.m., Didsbury RCMP received a report of a semi tractor trailer unit on fire on the QE II Highway near Township Road 294 near Didsbury.

Upon arrival, Mounties say the driver of the semi was able to detach his load, however, the tractor unit was a complete loss.

Police say fire departments from Carstairs and Crossfield responded to the fire and were able to extinguish the blaze. There were no injuries reported.

UPDATE: June 21, 1:50 p.m.

Didsbury RCMP and other emergency services are now clear from the vehicle fire on the QE II near Township Road 294 and normal traffic flow has resumed.

Didsbury RCMP and emergency services are currently on scene responding to a vehicle fire on the QE II at Township Road 294.

RCMP are advising that QE II northbound lanes are currently not passable at this time.

RCMP are advising northbound motorists to take the Highway 2A exit at Crossfield to bypass the road closure.
