On June 11, 2024, Crowsnest Pass RCMP were called to a collision on Hwy 22. Mounties say responding officers discovered that the truck involved was stolen from Cranbrook, B.C. and the trailer was stolen from Blairmore. According to police, no one was located in the crash.

However, with help from the public who reported suspicious activity, RCMP soon located two suspects.

Mounties say Lester Martin, 38, and Jonathan Arsenault, 24, were arrested and have been charged with the following:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over 5000 x3
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose x 2
  • Possession of break in instruments

Additionally, police say Martin was charged with possession of a controlled substance. He was released for Alberta Court of Justice in Pincher Creek on July 11, 2024. After a Judicial Interim Release Hearing, Arsenault was released to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Pincher Creek on July 11, 2024.
