Man sentenced to time served in alleged conspiracy to commit murder incident

Jun 14, 2024 | 4:21 PM

One of two central Alberta men accused of conspiring to commit murder last year has now been sentenced.

Chrys Andrew Tremblay, 46, a resident of Red Deer, was sentenced in Drumheller Court of Justice on June 10, 2024, to 128 days in jail. However, he was also given time-and-a-half credit for 85 days in pre-trial custody, meaning he was essentially sentenced to time already served.

Tremblay was also sentenced to 12-months of probation and given a weapons prohibition after being convicted on counts of unlawfully in dwelling house and fail to comply with a release order.

Meantime, his co-accused, Chad Daniel Wickett, 32, also a resident of Red Deer, saw his charges withdrawn on June 10, 2024.

According to the Alberta Crown Prosecution Service (ACPS), prosecutors determined there was no reasonable likelihood of conviction and withdrew the charges against Wickett.

On May 25, 2023, Red Deer RCMP issued a heavy police presence notification while officers conducted a high-risk arrest utilizing the Emergency Response Team in the area of 47a Avenue and 55 Street.

Mounties say officers were successful in making the arrest.

One male was located on outstanding warrants and taken into custody.

Chad Wickett was arrested for:

  • Conspiracy to commit murder
  • Using a firearm in the commission of an offence
  • Possession of weapons
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Failing to comply with a release order

Previously on May 4, 2023, at approximately 3:43 p.m., Three Hills RCMP say they received information from a female that two male suspects, one armed with a firearm, attended her residence the night prior.

Mounties allege one of the males unlawfully entered the victim’s residence, took her cell phone and indicated that he was there to kill the female victim. Police say the victim was able to convince the males not to hurt her and they left the residence.

Chrys Tremblay was charged with:

  • Conspiracy to commit murder
  • Forcible confinement
  • Being unlawfully at large in a dwelling house
  • Fail to comply with release order X3
  • Uttering threats against a person
  • Failure to comply with probation order

On May 10, 2023, RCMP say Tremblay was arrested in Red Deer with the assistance of Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Unit and Southern Alberta RCMP Emergency Response Team. They confirmed Tremblay was on a Conditional Sentence Order (CSO) at the time.
