Battle at the Beach in Sylvan Lake!

Jun 14, 2024 | 2:14 PM

Hundreds of ball hockey players will be gathered in Sylvan Lake this weekend for the sixth annual Battle at the Beach.

The 3 on 3 tournament features a maximum of seven players per team and will take place June 15-16 (rain or shine) from 8:25 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the parking lot along Lakeshore Drive in Sylvan Lake.

There’s a Competitive Division and Recreational Division for both kids and adults alike. All together, there are 105 teams with a total of 735 players expected to compete.

The Competitive Division features U9-U18 age groups for kids, along with an Adult 18+ Male age group.

The Recreational Division features U7-U18 age groups for kids, as well as age groups for Adults 18+ for both Male and Females. They are 30-minute games with a minimum of four games guaranteed for each team.

Competitors can test their skills at a hardest shot station, accuracy shooting station, and accuracy race station. There will also be a celebrity game showcasing Special Olympians versus ex-NHL players.

The event will also feature other activities in addition to the ball hockey of course. Attendees can enjoy food trucks, a BBQ, and music, or catch up with mascots Wooly Bully and Sully the Gully, or local celebrities and town councillors. Plus, there will be prizes for the game winners and those with the best jerseys.

The event’s number one priority, however, is for everyone to have fun.
