Mayor’s Garden Party celebrates 50 years
The annual Mayor’s Garden Party returns for its 50th year of celebration on Tuesday, June 4, from 2-4 p.m.
Senior residents will head to the Harvest Centre in Westerner Park to enjoy a 1950s-themed, nostalgia-filled afternoon featuring the Memphis Mafia Band and refreshments served by city council members.
“Get ready to twist and shout at the Mayor’s Garden Party 50th Anniversary,” says Mayor Ken Johnston. “Expect toe-tapping tunes from the golden era, delicious refreshments and live entertainment that will whisk you back in time. From jitterbugging to hula hooping, there’s something for everyone to enjoy! So, dust off your poodle skirts, slick back your hair, and let’s make some memories together at the 50th Anniversary of the Mayor’s Garden Party!”
The event is free of charge. There is free parking available at the park, as well as a complimentary shuttle service departing from Sorensen Station at 1:30 p.m., and departing from the event venue at 4 p.m.
