Westerner Days 2024: “Do it for the Memories”

May 31, 2024 | 5:09 PM

Westerner Days is back from July 17-21, and this year’s theme, “Do it for the Memories,” aims to make it an unforgettable experience for families and friends.

One notable change for 2024 is the shift in musical entertainment. Instead of the Peavey Mart Centrium, main concert acts will perform at The District along with over 20 other performers. Additionally, daily admission to the festival will now also include access to the entertainment.

Other new attractions at this year’s midway include larger rides and motocross events. Ride All Day passes can be purchased at central Alberta Co-op stores and gas bar locations.

Residents can also explore the Central Alberta Pavilion which features an indoor maze that highlights the vibrant history of Westerner Park and Westerner Days, complemented by footage from RDTV. The pavilion aims to remind residents of our interconnected regional identity.

The Junction has also been updated and will be located in the newly named Neeralta Pavilion, formerly known as Stockmens. This space offers an immersive experience with a fusion of metal, concrete, and wood, celebrating the region’s industrial landscape with captivating prairie charm. A 60-foot virtual interactive art display, featuring interactive elements like wind turbines, wild rose bushes, oil derrick pumps, and grain fields, and performances by emerging local artists has been added as well.

Returning favorites include Kidventure, hosted in the air-conditioned Parkland Pavilion, where children 12 and under can play, explore, and shop while enjoying free shows featuring clowns, hoola hoopers, and more. The Market will also be back with over 60 vendors, and Extreme Dogs show will return as well.

Westerner Days will also feature two pavilions dedicated to agriculture. At Agventure, guests can dive into the world of agriculture with large machines, educational presentations, and lively animal exhibits. This interactive area aims to bring the farm experience to life and celebrate Central Alberta’s agricultural spirit.

The North American Pony Chuckwagon and Chariot Races will also return, starting every day starting at 5:00 p.m. The days will close with evening fireworks.

Multi-day admission passes are available at $39.99 for two days, $59.99 for three days, $69.99 for four days, and $79.99 for all five days.
