Red Deer RCMP make arrest in drug trafficking investigation

Following an investigation into illegal drug trafficking within the city, Red Deer RCMP arrested and charged a 30-year-old Edmonton man.

After four months of investigating, police secured search warrants for two residences: one in the Johnstone Park neighbourhood in Red Deer, and one in the Allard neigbourhood in Edmonton.

Upon searching the properties on April 30, Red Deer RCMP discovered and seized 28.7 grams of cocaine and $45,000 in Canadian cash.

The Edmonton resident was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance, trafficking a controlled substance, and possession of proceeds of crime.

He was released by the Justice for the court following a Judicial Interim Release Hearing and is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on May 23.
