Fire Advisory lifted for Red Deer County

Rain and cooler temperatures have led officials with Red Deer County to lift a fire advisory previously in place.

The advisory was lifted as of 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2024.

County officials say permits are now available online at rdcounty.ca/fire. Residents are reminded to set-up their account to obtain their burn permit.

A reminder that a fire permit is required for all open fires year-round, except for safe acceptable residential fire pits* within Red Deer County.

Fire Services will continue to monitor weather patterns and should dry weather conditions return, another fire restriction may be put in place.

*Safe acceptable residential fire pits – (a) A minimum of 1 meter clearance measured from the nearest fireplace edge to the nearest edge of a building, property lines, or other combustible material; (b) Constructed of materials such as bricks or rocks that are noncombustible; (e) The base of the fire burning area is not less than 0.3 meters above the surrounding grade; and (f) The fire chamber does not exceed 1.25 meters in width, and is at least 0.4 meters but not more than 0.6 meters in depth.
