"Come Try It"

Red Deer Ringette hosts free session for kids this Sunday

Red Deer Ringette is hosting a free “Come Try It” event for kids this Sunday.

Held at the Servus Arena on April 28, kids aged four to 16 will have a chance at trying the “fastest game on ice”.

Organizers say experienced players and coaches will be on hand to provide information and instruction to interested children and their families, both on and off the ice. Players require a helmet and skates while the organization states they will provide the sticks, rings and all the fun.

Chris Weiss, the association’s Community Engagement Coordinator, says the event is a great opportunity for youth of all ages to try out the sport.

“We are excited to once again offer this free opportunity to children and youth in central Alberta,” he said. “Come Try It events allow kids to try the game without any commitment. Any skill level is welcome and if you are feeling nervous, we encourage you to bring a friend along.”

Children aged four to 10 are scheduled for 3:00 p.m., with those aged 11-16 hitting the ice at 4:15 p.m. Participants are asked to arrive at Servus Arena 30 minutes early for a short introduction and registration.
