Jocelyn Peterman, originally from Red Deer, and mixed doubles partner Brett Gallant (Charlottetown) are headed to Olympic Trials in December after a bronze medal finish at this week’s 2024 Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Championship.

The married couple beat Madison and Rylan Kleiter (Saskatoon) 6-3 Friday to win bronze.

Earlier in the morning, they lost 8-4 in the semi-final against eventual gold medal-winners Kadriana Lott and Colton Lott (Winnipeg Beach). The Lotts (7-0) were also the only team to finish ahead of Peterman and Gallant (5-2) in Pool D, which had eight teams.

The Lotts beat Peterman and Gallant 8-5 in pool action.

Peterman and Gallant now automatically qualify for the 2025 Canadian Mixed Doubles Trials, Dec. 30, 2024 to Jan. 4, 2025, by virtue of finishing in the top three of this tournament. They also qualify for the 2025 Canadian Mixed Doubles Championship (this tournament) by virtue of making this year’s semis.

The Olympic trials were moved up one year to give the winners time to plan and prepare the following year’s training program ahead of the 2026 Milan-Cortina Olympics.

Winners of the trials will also represent Canada at the 2025 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship.
