Princess of Wales announces cancer diagnosis

Kate, the Princess of Wales, has announced that she has cancer.

In a video released Friday, the 42-year-old says she is undergoing chemotherapy.

The announcement comes after weeks of speculation about her whereabouts and health since she was hospitalized in January for unspecified abdominal surgery. The type of cancer has not been disclosed but was reported to have been discovered after her surgery.

Kate had not been seen in public since Christmas until footage surfaced this week of her with husband Prince William, heir to the throne, walking from a farm shop near their Windsor home.

She is asking for “time, space and privacy” while she is treated for the cancer.

The announcement is another blow to the Royal Family. In February, it was announced that King Charles III had been diagnosed with a form of cancer.
