Red Deer County warns of thin ice on waterways
Mar 13, 2024 | 3:59 PM
Red Deer County is warning residents and visitors to be extremely cautious around waterways, where the ice has become very thin.
“Ice conditions deteriorate quickly in warm temperatures, and it can be hard to tell if the ice is safe,” says Fire Chief Drayton Bussiere.
“The best course of action is to stay off.”
Chief Bussiere also noted that Protective Services personnel have, in previous seasons, responded to both pets and people who’ve fallen through the ice.
