CCAA National Volleyball title to be decided Saturday night at RDP

The gold and bronze medal matches of the CCAA Women’s National Volleyball Championships in Red Deer go down Saturday night at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre.

The host RDP Queens were eliminated from bronze medal contention Friday, losing three sets to one against les Nordiques de Lionel-Groulx.

A summary provided by RDP Athletics notes:

The Nordiques received a match-high 15 kills from Jade Genereux and downed the RDP Queens in four sets (30-28, 25-20, 18-25 and 25-16) in the bronze semi-final. Emma Waskiewicz contributed 12 kills and Sandrine Methot added 10 kills for the Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) Champions. Setter Anna Duboc-Ventura had 36 assists and one of the Nordiques’ seven aces.

Outside hitter Rachel Perry led the Queens with 13 kills. Red Deer’s Emma Holmes accumulated 12 kills and one ace. Libero Francesca Sandini had 15 digs and three assists for the hosts. Methot was named the 4imprint Nordiques Player of the Game. Sandini was chosen as the 4imprint Queens Player of the Match.

The Nordiques play the Humber Hawks in the bronze medal match at 6 p.m., and for the gold at 8 p.m., it’s the VIU Mariners versus the Lakeland Rustlers.

Both matches are taking place at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre.
