Mar 8, 2024 | 8:52 AM

The BCHL has announced its playoff format for all teams, including the Alberta five who transitioned to the league from the AJHL earlier this year.

Those teams include of course the Blackfalds Bulldogs, Brooks Bandits, Okotoks Oilers, Sherwood Park Crusaders and Spruce Grove Saints.

Here’s how the playoff format shakes down:

Alberta

Wildcard series: April 10 to 16 (4 vs. 5 seed)
Semifinal: April 19 to May 1
Finals: May 10 to 25

British Columbia

Round 1: April 5 to 16
Round 2: April 19 to 30
Round 3: May 3 to 14
Fred Page Cup Finals: May 17 to 28

The current Alberta standings are as follows (as of March 7; each team plays 20 games in regular season)

Brooks – 18 points (10GP)
Sherwood Park – 15 points (11GP)
Blackfalds – 10 points (10GP)
Spruce Grove – 6 points (9GP)
Okotoks – 6 points (10GP)

Once both the Alberta side and B.C. sides have determined a winner, the respective champions will take part in a final series to close the season. Further details of that series will be announced in the weeks to come.
