Olds RCMP investigate fatal motor vehicle collision involving Red Deer man
One person is dead following a crash between two semis east of Olds Wednesday night.
On March 6, 2024, at 11:55 p.m., Olds RCMP received a report of a collision between two semi trucks on Highway 791 and Highway 27. Upon arrival, Mounties say the driver and lone occupant of one of the semi’s, a 50-year-old male Red Deer resident, was deceased.
Police say the driver of the other semi was treated on scene by EMS and released.
RCMP say their initial investigation indicates that the deceased’s semi was travelling southbound on Highway 791, east of the QEll, when it failed to stop at the intersection with Highway 27 and was struck by a westbound semi. Police say the highway was redirected for several hours while emergency crews cleaned the scene.
