Snowfall Warning issued for Red Deer and surrounding region

Mar 1, 2024 | 5:12 PM

A Snowfall Warning has been issued for the Red Deer-Ponoka-Innisfail-Stettler area.

Officials with Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) say heavy snow will begin overnight Friday evening/Saturday morning, bringing total amounts of 10 to 15 cm.

The heavy snow is expected to taper off Saturday morning before another round of heavy snow moves into the area Saturday afternoon. The heaviest snow is expected to fall in areas east of Highway 21, but the snowfall will taper off by Sunday morning.

Motorists are reminded that visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions.

Snowfall Warnings are issued when significant snowfall is expected.
