Feb 27, 2024 | 1:16 PM

Red Deer Rebels legend Arron Asham is the spotlight of an upcoming Bobblehead Night, March 1 at the Centrium, the club revealed Tuesday.

Asham is the franchise’s all-time leading scorer with 292 points in 266 games between 1994 and 1998.

He sits first in team history with 131 goals (ahead ofJustin Mapletoft, B.J. Young, Brandon Hagel and Kai Uchacz in the top five), and is second in assists with 161. He also had 37 points in 31 playoff games, and has the fifth most penalty minutes in franchise history with 602

Asham was drafted 71st overall by the Montreal Canadians in 1996, playing 789 games over 15 seasons in the big leagues.

He is the ninth member of the franchise to be honoured with a bobblehead after Colby Armstrong, Matt Dumba, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Dion Phaneuf, Brandon Sutter, Cam Ward, Cam Moon, and Woolly Bully.

Asham, along with several other Rebels Alumni, will be in attendance at Friday’s game against Swift Current, whom the Rebels are trying to chase down ahead of the WHL Playoffs. Fans will be able to meet and get an autograph from Asham during the second intermission.

Only the first 1,500 fans will receive a bobblehead.

Tickets for Friday’s game (doors open 6 p.m. with puck drop at 7 p.m.) at the Peavey Mart Centrium are available now through Tickets Alberta. If you can’t make it to the game, the broadcast can be heard on 106.7 REWIND Radio with a game recap after the game right here on rdnewsNOW.com.
