Feb 9, 2024 | 2:22 PM

Downtown Red Deer is gearing up for a month-long celebration of all things icy and delightful with Polar Glow on the Ross Street Patio & Veteran’s Park.

From February 16 to March 16, the downtown streets will come alive with installations and events every second Saturday, promising a magical experience for all who venture into this winter wonderland.

Kicking off the festivities is the enchanting Ice Sculpture Event on Feb. 17. Join us as master ice sculptors bring their creations to life starting on Feb. 16. With activities tailored for the whole family, including live music and indulgent hot chocolate from 3 PM to 8 PM on the 17th, it’s a day destined to create lasting memories.

Mark your calendars for the Glow Event on March 2nd, starting at 3 PM, where the area will be transformed into a mesmerizing sea of light and color.

Witness awe-inspiring glow sculptures and installations from Alberta artists, partake in fun glow games, and dance to live music under the starry sky.

As the Polar Glow series draws to a close, we invite you to join us for the St. Patty’s Finale on March 16, a celebration not to be missed.

From ice sculpting to glow galleries showcasing stunning installations by Alberta artists, inspired by Canadian winters and wildlife, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Amanda Gould, Executive Director of the Downtown Business Association emphasizes, “Polar Glow not only highlights the vibrancy of our downtown but also showcases the creativity and talent of Alberta. It’s a testament to the unique charm and warmth of our community, even in the coldest of seasons.”
