Death of an inmate from Bowden Institution
Officials with the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) have announced the death of an inmate at Bowden Institution, south of Red Deer.
On February 7, 2024, CSC officials say Allan Sweeney, an inmate from Bowden Institution, died while in custody of apparent natural causes.
At the time of death, officials say the inmate had been serving an indeterminate sentence, which commenced on October 3, 1975, for non-capital murder and first-degree murder.
CSC says the inmate’s next of kin have been notified.
