Going into Saturday night, the Red Deer Rebels were winners of six straight, while their opponent inside the Peavey Mart Centrium, the Prince Albert Raiders, had lost their last three.

On this night, the home team wound up winning 2-1 to pick up their seventh consecutive victory.

The two teams had played one another twice this season already, PA winning 6-2 on Oct. 6, and the Rebels winning 2-1 on Dec. 9.

As well, Red Deer (24-13-1-4) sat three points back of Medicine Hat for first in the Central Division, while the Raiders (19-21-0-3) sit second last in the East Division, but in the eighth and final Eastern Conference playoff spot.

With Medicine Hat losing in OT Saturday, the gap becomes two, and Red Deer has a game in hand.
