24-hour parking bans on Green Routes beginning Monday for residential snow clearing
Starting Monday at 7 a.m., a 24-hour parking ban will be in place on all Green Routes in Red Deer for residential snow clearing.
Green Routes are the higher-use residential roads, such as collector roads, transit routes, and school zones. Under the new pilot Snow & Ice Control Program, residential clearing operations will be 24/7, as crews work around-the-clock to restore mobility and improve accessibility within seven days.
Residents are asked to look for ‘No Parking’ sandwich boards, which will be placed along city streets to signal that a parking ban is in effect. The parking ban remains in effect until after a Green Route is plowed, snow is removed and the ‘no parking’ signs are collected.
“By extending our residential snow clearing operations to include the overnight hours, we are able to restore mobility to Green Routes faster than ever before,” said Greg Sikora, Parks and Public Works Manager. “Our crews can move even quicker if everyone complies with the parking ban, and moves their vehicles when their street is signed.”
