Home destroyed by fire near Didsbury

Didsbury Fire Rescue confirms an area home was destroyed by fire on Jan. 9.

Fire Chief Curtis Mousseau says crews responded just after 10 a.m. that day to the home in rural Mountain View County, northeast of Didsbury and off Township Road 320.

The fire is non-suspicious, and he says investigators determined it started in the flu of a wood stove that had been left unattended for a short time.

“Make sure you’re inspecting all the pieces of your wood stove on a regular basis, for deterioration and wear,” says Mousseau.
