Grand Slam of Curling in Red Deer starts today

The Grand Slam of Curling in Red Deer is finally here, running today, Jan. 16, through Sunday, Jan. 21 at Servus Arena downtown.

The schedule features four draws each day for the first four days prior to the playoffs.

Tuesday’s draws start at 8, 11:30, 3 and 6:30, while the other three days all have draws beginning at 8:30, 12, 4 and 8.

Quarter- and semi-final Saturday, the draws are again at 8:30 (tiebreaker), 12 (men’s quarters), 4 (women’s quarters) and 8 (men’s and women’s semis).

On championship Sunday, the men’s final is at 10:30 and the women’s is the grand finale at 3.

This is the fourth Grand Slam of Curling event of the season, and features 16 of the top men’s team and women’s teams from around the world. Teams are invited based on WCF world team rankings, with one spot set aside for this season’s HearingLife Tour Challenge Tier 2 winners, according to the event’s website.
