Making A Difference

Red Deer & District Community Foundation encourages donations to local agencies

Dec 28, 2023 | 2:27 PM

In 2023, our Community Grants program distributed grants twice (spring and fall), for a total of $125,000 distributed to incredible programs and agencies in Central Alberta.

Since the funding for Community Grants is unrestricted, it means that grants can be awarded to any qualified donee, as chosen by our adjudication committee, regardless of area of focus.

The agencies we supported in 2023 provide literacy programming, youth programs, food insecurity initiatives, mental health resources, maternal support programs, adaptive sport accessibility, hospice assistance, and STEM programming.

We’re working hard behind the scenes to update and invigorate our granting program so that we can be as responsive to the needs of the community as possible. Stay tuned in 2024 to see what exciting plans we have in store!

This is just a reminder that there’s still time to donate to agencies in your community, and save on your taxes!

To receive a receipt for the 2023 tax year, your donation must be received by Dec. 31. Charitable donations are a way to make a difference in your community while reducing your tax burden.

From all of us at the Red Deer & District Community Foundation, we want to thank you for your support throughout 2023. We continue to work hard to fulfill our mission of strengthening the quality of life in Central Alberta.

As we gear up to celebrate a milestone anniversary in 2024, we are making plans to strengthen our ties with rural communities, and increase our connections with local agencies as we explore community needs and innovative and sustainable funding models.
