Plans approved to upgrade West Park Elementary School
The Board of Trustees for Red Deer Public Schools has approved a plan that will see West Park Elementary School upgraded.
Using Capital Maintenance and Renewal Funding, officials say the school will have its building envelope upgraded, which is expected to help increase thermal comfort, increase fresh air circulation, and upgrade the school‘s outdated look.
The scope of work is said to involve replacing all windows, doors, and exterior panels while increasing the thermal insulation. The new exterior cladding and brick will cover the new insulation and is hoped to offer the school a fresh new look. The project will also include new exterior LED lighting that aims to enhance security and the appearance of the school in the evening hours.
Officials say the total cost of the project is $1.7 million, with completion expected in the summer of 2024. Following approval from the Board, the project will now be submitted for ministerial approval.
