Central Alberta Mounties are looking for a suspect after a robbery in Ponoka last week.

On Dec. 15, 2023, at 3:32 a.m., Ponoka RCMP received a report of a robbery that occurred 30 minutes earlier on 48 avenue and 50 street in Ponoka.

Police say the victim had just finished shoveling a walkway and was taking a photo of his work when he was approached by an individual who accused the victim of taking a photo of him. After the victim explained his actions, the suspect allegedly showed the victim a firearm and demanded either the victim’s phone or his vehicle.

Mounties say the suspect then left with the victim’s phone but no assault took place.

The suspect is described as:

  • Medium complexion
  • 5 foot 9 inches tall
  • 150 pounds
  • Wearing all black with a hoodie over his head.
  • The suspect may have been driving an older green Chev. pickup.
