Strathcona County named host of 2026 Alberta Summer Games
STRATHCONA COUNTY, AB – The host of the 2026 Alberta Summer Games has been named.
The 25th iteration of the Games will take place in Strathcona County. The provincial government said on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 that it will provide an operating grant of $820,000 to the host society. The grant will help cover operating costs like staffing, transportation and promotions.
Joseph Schow, Minister of Tourism and Sport said, “The Alberta Summer Games is more than a competition between the best athletes in our province.”
He continued, “For host communities, they leave a legacy of enhanced infrastructure, trained volunteers and tourism revenue. For athletes, the Games teach teamwork, build confidence and promote healthy lifestyles that can last well into adulthood.”
