Red Deer Public Schools introduces Career Engagement Coordinator

Nov 14, 2023 | 10:52 AM

Red Deer Public Schools has introduced a new position that will help ensure students are prepared for their future.

The Career Engagement Coordinator role will be filled by Renee Rudolph, who will do work through career fairs, one-on-ones with career counsellors, class presentations, parent info sessions, and bringing in guest speakers.

“Education, raising awareness and providing opportunities to students so they can continue on a successful path after high school is key,” said Rudolph. “We work hard to show kids as many opportunities and possibilities that are available to them after high school, so that they can make an informed decision for their future.”

With student success and high school completion a major focus of the division, the position is all the more fitting.

Throughout the year, Rudolph will spend a good chunk of time visiting middle schools.

“We want to expose students to all of the opportunities they have following their high school graduation. It’s important to start talking to students at the middle school level because it gets them thinking,” she says. “With the job market today, I think for some it is overwhelming because there are so many options, so helping them narrow their interests down is helpful.”

Red Deer Public currently has over 11,420 students.
