Ladies in Red Deer can start their Halloween weekend with a mysterious and exciting masquerade ball, all while supporting a good cause.

This Friday, the Piper Creek Optimist Club is bringing back their much-anticipated Ladies Gala, held at Festival Hall (4214 58 St.).

After a few years off due to the pandemic, the event is returning with a formal masquerade theme. Roughly 250 guests, women only, will receive a five-course meal catered by Bo’s Bar & Stage, a chance at winning over $1,000 in prizes, take pictures at the photo booth, and dance to live music from the Fun House band.

A cashless event, even the open bar is included in the ticket price.

“We’re excited to be back; we’re really excited for the number of people that have came and have been able to attend and it really is meant to be a really fun time,” said Cory Kloss, member of the Club, adding that Ted, morning show host from 106.7 REWIND radio, will also be the event’s Master of Ceremonies.

The Club is currently made up of around 60 men in Red Deer, who raise money for local youth.

“Our big mandate is anything in central Alberta that supports kids, that’s what we do. All the funds we raise, all the events we put on, it all comes back here into central Alberta to support a variety of different causes but all related to kids,” he said.

All funds from the event will go towards the Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre, as well as the Brothers Big Sisters program at Red Deer’s Youth HQ, who are also currently looking for mentors.

But on October 27, the men won’t just be raising, they’ll be serving.

“The Ladies Gala is one of our main events that we’ve done for a number of years; it’s been over 20 years that we’ve done it. It’s a ladies focused event so all of the patrons there are ladies and all the club members, they support, and they help out in terms of, they serve food, they serve drinks and they ensure the event happens,” he said.

The event runs from 6 – 11 p.m. and tickets can be purchased individually or as a table online.
