Soroptimists now accepting applications for three awards

Oct 19, 2023 | 10:30 AM

Soroptimist International of Central Alberta is now accepting applications for its Live Your Dream Awards, Violet Richardson Awards and the Ruby Award – For Women helping Women.

The deadline for all award applications is December 31, 2023.

According to organizers, the Live Your Dream awards are granted to a woman who has primary financial responsibility for herself and her dependents, is enrolled or attending an undergraduate degree program or skills/training program and shows a financial need. These cash awards aim to enable women to offset any costs associated with their education. To find out how to apply, please contact Melody at melody@inspiringvirtues.ca.

The Live Your Dream awards are also a project participating in the 2023 Field Law Community Fund Program. “

Please vote for us at https://fieldlawcommunityfund.com/ideas/central-alberta-live-your-dream-awards/ and we may be able to grant four more awards this year,” reads a statement from the organization.

The Violet Richardson Award is described as a recognition program for young women ages 14-17 engaged in volunteer action within their communities or schools. Projects that benefit women and girls are especially valued. The club presents $500 to the winner and $500 to the charity of her choice. Applications are available from Robyn at robyn.devine@icloud.com.

The Ruby Award honours women who are making extraordinary differences in the lives of other women. Some women work to improve conditions for women and girls through their personal or volunteer efforts; others do so through professional avenues. Officials say this recipient will be a woman who would inspire and encourage other women and has worked to improve the lives of women and girls. Award applications are available from Jan at rubyawardsoroptimist@gmail.com.

Soroptimist International of Central Alberta is part of a global member organization that provides women and girls with the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment. You can visit them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
