
Local talent on Team Alberta for upcoming WHL Cup in Red Deer
Some hockey talent from central Alberta will be among those on the roster for Team Alberta at the 2023 WHL Cup taking place in Red Deer next week.
The Western Hockey League event is taking place in partnership with BC Hockey, Hockey Alberta, Hockey Saskatchewan and Hockey Manitoba.
Among those on Team Alberta from the Red Deer region include defenceman Daxon Rudolph from Lacombe who currently plays for the Northern Alberta Xtreme U18 Prep. Rudolph was drafted 1st overall by the Prince Albert Raiders in the first round of this year’s WHL Draft.
Others include defenceman Dermot Johnston from Olds who currently plays for the U18AAA Red Deer Optimist Chiefs. Johnston was drafted in the 2nd round, 43rd overall by the Prince George Cougars in the 2023 WHL Draft.
