Central Alberta Foodgrains Growing Project raises over $80,000
The Central Alberta Foodgrains Growing Project harvested its 85 acres of canola near Bentley this past weekend.
They also raised $80,949.33 for the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, part of a larger global effort to serve over one million people who are experiencing hunger.
“Nine combines made short work of the harvest, after lunch for about 100 people served by GEM Silage Products of Red Deer. Vision Truck Lines provided two Super Bs to haul the canola to Richardson Pioneer elevator east of Lacombe. Another farmer provided a truck as well to haul the crop,” shares Doug Maas, local organizer.
“Any crop expenses in the spring such as crop insurance were provided by cash donations from the public earlier in the spring. Cash donations continue to come in and will be added to the crop proceeds.”
