Kings hockey team hoping for another exceptional season
The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings hockey team expects to be back on top this season, just months after winning the ACAC Championship.
Their first title in 29 years came in a sweep of the NAIT Ooks, hoisting the trophy on home ice, a feeling they’d like to replicate.
This year’s team features 22 returning players, with three rookies coming out of Junior A.
“Jarod Newell is a solid and experienced two-way defenseman. He is big and will be hard to play against. Kevin Minnoch is an offensive-minded defenceman and will be a huge asset to our powerplay,” says Head Coach Trevor Keeper. “He was the leading goal-scorer for defencemen in Saskatchewan. The only forward we signed was Dawson Leroux who is very quick, skilled and has a great shot. These three fit our culture and our program.”
