There’s still time to join tomorrow’s golf tournament hosted by the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame.

Roughly 100 golfers have already registered so far for the tournament held on September 12, beginning at 9 a.m. at the Innisfail Golf Club (6080 Lakewood Dr.).

The Hall of Fame has also partnered once again this year with the Innisfail Eagles Senior Men’s AAA Hockey Team.

With tee-off at 11 a.m., there will be a burger and beverage hole, games, contests, prizes, and a silent auction throughout the day.

The annual 18-hole tournament has been held for over 30 years to raise funds for the Hall of Fame as a charity organization.

“Our whole purpose is to share Alberta’s sporting history with the province,” said Cassidy Colling, Marketing and Communications Coordinator. “We’ve had many guests that come from other parts of Canada, even often times from out of the country, and it’s just important to share that sporting history and see kids inspired to pursue certain sports and see what other people have achieved.”

Colling says this year’s funds will go towards achieving the Board of Directors’ strategic goals, which includes acquiring an interactive game for the museum.

The funds will also be shared with the Innisfail Eagles team as part of their joint venture, both having attracted golfers and sponsorships to the tournament.

With the goal of filling 144 spots, Colling says interested participants can register today until 5 p.m. in person at the Hall of Fame (# 102 4200 Hwy 2) or by calling 403-341-8614. Registration prices are $225 per person or $900 for a team.

Sponsorship opportunities are also still available.

“If anybody wants to come out and support our two organizations, it’s going to be a really fun day and I encourage people to join us,” said Colling.
