left turns again possible at 49 avenue

Portion of 19 Street reopening ahead of Rebels games

Sep 8, 2023 | 2:03 PM

There are a number of traffic pattern changes coming to the intersection of 19 Street and 49 Avenue.

This is as crews progress with the 19 Street Improvements Project.

According to The City of Red Deer:

Starting approximately 6 a.m. on Saturday, September 9, the intersection at 19 Street and 49 Avenue will be fully open, traffic lights will be functioning, and all four lanes will be open. The intersections of 19 Street and 46 Avenue and Sharpe Avenue will remain right-turn only unless traffic control is onsite to direct otherwise.

For upcoming Red Deer Rebels pre-season games on Sept. 10 and 15, plus the home opener on Sept. 22, RCMP will be present at the intersection of 19 Street and 46 Avenue before and after games to direct traffic and permit left turns.

RCMP may be added for other events, such as concerts, on a case-by-case basis.

Drivers are reminded to slow down when in construction areas and pedestrians are to cross only at designated crosswalks. This work is weather dependent, and schedules may be subject to change.
