St. Patrick’s Community School prepares for new school year on Monday

Aug 11, 2023 | 12:06 PM

Red Deer’s year-round St. Patrick’s Community School has announced their first day of school will be this Monday for the upcoming 2023/24 academic year.

Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools (RDCRS) states the first day of school will commence with staggered entry on August 14 and 15. They say all students, both new and returning, will then unite on August 16 for a day filled with excitement and learning.

RDCRS says their year-round school is designed to provide students with a comprehensive and enriching educational experience throughout the year. They add the innovative approach to learning aims to give students more frequent breaks to enhance their retention and a seamless continuation of their educational journey.

“We are thrilled to embark on this exciting journey of year-round learning at St. Patrick’s Community School,” said Mandy Reed, St. Patrick’s Community School principal. “Our dedicated team of educators is committed to providing a nurturing and stimulating environment that will inspire our students to reach their fullest potential. We look forward to welcoming both familiar faces and new students and families to our campus on August 16 for a fantastic start to the new academic year.”

Staggered Entry Days:

RDCRS confirms August 14 and 15 have been assigned as staggered entry days to allow a smooth transition for students, parents, and staff. They say it also allows teachers to provide personalized attention to each student and for students to become familiar with their new learning environments before the entire school comes together on August 16.

Meet the Staff Night:

On August 16, the school will host a special “Meet the Staff” evening, where students and their families will have the opportunity to get acquainted with staff members. The interactive event is aimed to foster a strong sense of community and help build meaningful connections between families and the school.

Safety in School Zones:

As the new school year begins, RDCRS is urging all drivers to exercise extreme caution and remain attentive while driving through playground zones. With students returning to the classroom, they say it is essential to be vigilant, obey posted speed limits, and stop for school buses as required by law. They add ensuring the safety of students is a collective responsibility and appreciate the cooperation of the community in maintaining safe school zones.
