13 now working at RDRHC

New pediatrician working out of Red Deer Regional Hospital

Aug 2, 2023 | 5:55 PM

Alberta Health Services (AHS) says a new pediatrician now makes 13 working out of Red Deer Regional Hospital.

Dr. Clara Morin is practising at Pediatric Consultants Associated (#182, 5201-43 Street), and is accepting new patients.

“Access to a pediatrician helps children and youth grow up to be as healthy as they can be,” says Adriana LaGrange, Minister of Health and MLA for Red Deer-North. “The recruitment of Dr. Morin improves that access for local parents and caregivers, and is great news for our growing city and surrounding areas. Our government continues to work with Alberta Health Services and our partners to recruit physicians to communities across the province, improving access to primary care services for all Albertans.”

Dr. Morin received her medical training at the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina, and recent practised in Hamilton and Medicine Hat, AHS says.

“I love Red Deer,” says Morin. “It’s a lively city, close to big cities like Edmonton and Calgary but not as busy as them. Full of trails and beautiful things to do. And I have a great team of coworkers that makes my job really enjoyable.”

AHS notes that it’s recruitment of physicians is continuing, across Alberta, in order to meet patient needs.

The need for doctors in general — not just pediatricians — is great in Red Deer, as has been well-documented.

rdnewsNOW reported in February 2023 that not a single one of the 93 doctors connected to Red Deer’s Primary Care Network were accepting new patients.

As of August 2, that number is now three, according to reddeerpcn.com.

One can inquire about Dr. Clara Morin’s services by calling 403-343-6404.
