Red Deer Rebels forward Kalan Lind has signed a three-year entry-level contract with the NHL’s Nashville Predators.

Lind, 18, was selected by the Preds, 46th overall, at last week’s 2023 NHL Draft, held in Nashville.

At six-feet tall and 158-pounds, Lind is coming off career bests in the Western Hockey League in 2022-23, with 28 assists and 44 points. He also tallied 16 goals, aiding the Rebels to the second round of the WHL Playoffs.

Lind has a total of 40 goals and 48 assists for 88 points in 199 WHL contests since coming into the league for the 2021-22 season.

The Swift Current, Sask., native joined fellow Predators prospects Matthew Wood, Tanner Molendyk and Dylan MacKinnon in winning gold for Canada at the 2022 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, which was held in Red Deer.

Lind was the sole Red Deer Rebels player taken at this year’s NHL Draft.

From July 2-6, he’s been taking part in the Predators’ 2023 development camp.

Kalan joins brother Kole in signing an NHL contract. Kole, who played with Kelowna of the WHL, is currently part of the Seattle Kraken’s system, and was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks, 33rd overall in 2017.
