June 7 Meeting

Board highlights for Red Deer Public Schools

Jun 14, 2023 | 9:47 AM

The Board of Trustees for Red Deer Public Schools held its annual Organizational Meeting last week and elected a board chair and vice chair.

Nicole Buchanan was re-elected to the Board Chair position, while Dianne Macaulay was elected as Vice Chair for the 2023/2024 school year. Committees and school liaisons were also determined.

Meantime, trustee Bev Manning was recently recognized at the Public School Boards’ Association of Alberta with a long service award. District officials say Manning has been a trustee for 28 years after first being elected in 1995. She said she wanted to serve her community by helping to make a difference in the lives of the students and families who attend Red Deer Public Schools. Manning believes that every child has the potential to find their own path to success.

Elsewhere, in recognition of the hard work and dedication of staff, the Board of Trustees has approved a 2 per cent increase to Classified Staff salaries effective September 2023. The approval was made at the Board’s regular meeting on June 7.
