Ponoka seeking youth input on expanded skate park design

Jun 13, 2023 | 4:52 PM

The Town of Ponoka wants to hear from its youth on the design of a future expanded skate park.

According to the Town, the current conceptual design for an expanded skate park could see the existing Hamilton Skate Park extended south to include the space currently occupied by the former Town of Ponoka recycling yard. The sidewalk in front of the Hamilton Skate Park would also be extended south to connect with the pedestrian bridge which crosses over the Battle River and connects with the river valley trail system.

There are multiple ways to provide your ideas, during what is the second phase of consultations.

First, a pop-up youth engagement session is happening July 5 at Hamilton’s Skate Park (4515 50 St.), weather-permitting. Attendees can also enjoy a free freezie and a chance to win some swag.

The session runs from 1-3 p.m.

If you cannot attend the pop-up, youth and citizens of all ages can offer their thoughts at LetsTalkPonoka.ca. Paper copies can be picked up at the Ponoka Civic Centre (#200, 5604 50 Street).

The deadline to provide feedback in phase two of consultations is July 31.
