Red Deer RCMP arrest and charge male with distribution of child pornography

Red Deer RCMP have arrested and charged a 20-year-old male resident with child luring and multiple child pornography offences.

Officials say Red Deer General Investigative Section (GIS) conducted a joint investigation with ALERT’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit.

They confirm the joint efforts in the lengthy inter-agency investigation led to the arrest of Mark Andrada.

Andrada was charged on May 11, 2023 with the following Criminal Code Offences:

1. Possession of child pornography
2. Exporting child pornography
3. Accessing child pornography
4. Print/ publish/ make child pornography
5. Luring a child

Police say Andrada allegedly engaged in sexually explicit online chats with a young female victim in the state of Illinois. They say the victim was sextorted into providing photos and videos, which the accused later tried to sell. RCMP confirm the U.S. FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) was involved in the investigation.

Andrada appeared before a Justice of the Peace and was released with his next court appearance set for June 9, 2023, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.
