Motorcyclist in serious condition after crash with logging truck near Ponoka

RCMP in Ponoka are investigating after a serious motor vehicle collision which occurred this week.

It was about 10 p.m. on May 24, they say, when members received reports of a crash between a logging truck and a motorcycle on Highway 53 near the QEII; that highway being the one which leads directly out of town east and west.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 24-year-old Lacombe County resident, sustained serious injuries and was transported by STARS Air Ambulance to an Edmonton hospital. He remains in critical, but stable condition.

The driver of the logging truck did not sustain injuries.

Early investigation has determined that the motorcyclist may have run into the logging truck from behind, as the truck was heading east on Hwy 53 and turning left onto the QEII.
