May 9, 2023 | 11:32 AM

Two Red Deer residents have been charged with drug and firearms-related offenses following an investigation earlier this month.

Blackfalds RCMP say as a result on that investigation on May 2, with assistance from members in Sylvan Lake, Red Deer, and Police Dog Services, they seized:

· 28.9 grams of suspected Methamphetamine

· 13.5 grams of suspected Fentanyl

· 2 firearms (one loaded)

“This investigation saw GIS units from three RCMP detachments working collaboratively to bring things to their successful conclusion,“ says Sgt. Brent Dueck, acting Detachment Commander, Blackfalds RCMP.

RCMP have charged 31-year-old Chad Daniel Wicket and 39-year-old Candace Danielle Marie Payne with:

· Possession for the purpose of trafficking (x2)

· Possession of the proceeds of crime

· Selling unpackaged tobacco

· Multiple Firearms offences

Wicket was arrested and taken before a justice of the peace where he was released with his next court appearance set for June 1, 2023, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.

RCMP have issued an arrest warrant for Candace Payne.
