One charged as Red Deer RCMP looking into rash of dumpster fires

Red Deer RCMP say a man has been arrested in connection to multiple dumpster fires found set near Parkland Mall.

It was at about 1:30 a.m. when RCMP and Red Deer Emergency Services responded to a complaint about a number of fires at the mall.

Upon arrival, members discovered two picnic tables near the south end parking lot, along with a tree and a dumpster next to The Keg restaurant, were on fire.

RCMP were able to arrest Daniel Bugaresti, 32, and charge him with three counts of Arson. Bugaresti was released to appear in court on Thursday, May 25, 2023.

RCMP in Red Deer have responded to 17 dumpster fires over the past month and are continuing their investigation attempting to identify who may be responsible for the others.
