Regimental funeral for Alberta RCMP officer who died on duty

An R-C-M-P officer killed in a crash while responding to a call was honoured today at a regimental funeral in Sherwood Park, Alberta.

Constable Harvinder Singh Dhami, a member of the Strathcona County detachment east of Edmonton, died when his vehicle struck a concrete barrier on April 10th.

He was 32.

Ravinder Dhami-Randhawa told the service that she will forever remember the sound of the knock on her front door when she learned her husband had died.

The pair were together for 12 years.

R-C-M-P Chaplain Shay Anderson said Dhami was a close friend, who was easy to talk to with a humble attitude.

Gurvinder Dhami, a constable with Peel Regional Police west of Toronto, said his little brother was a remarkable human being and the essence of what it means to be a good, kind and compassionate person.
