The 2023 Red Deer Hospital Lottery, presented by the Red Deer Regional Health Foundation, is ready for lift-off.

The latest campaign, which features a record high $1.126 million dream home for its 25th anniversary, launched Friday at 121 Emerald Drive. It was constructed by Sorento Custom Homes.

Lottery proceeds since its initial launch total over $11 million, which go towards the purchase of critical medical equipment at the Red Deer Regional Hospital.

Last year, items purchased included

  • Portable Lifts
  • Equipment for sinus surgery
  • Phototherapy systems
  • Patient Stretchers (beds)
  • Medical Scopes
  • Fluid Warmers
  • Electrosurgical Workstations
  • Surgical Retractor

Manon Theriault, Red Deer Regional Health Foundation CEO, says every year at the foundation, things look a little bit different.

“We’re always trying to find new ways to raise funds for our hospital because it always has things it requires. Being able to host this event for a 25th year means it’s something the community looks forward to, and it’s something that works well for us and everyone involved. It’s heartwarming to know that the community continues to back us,” she says.

“At the end of the day, the government only funds a portion of hospital operations, leaving foundations to fundraise for needed equipment. There will always be gaps, and it’s our goal to fill as many of those as possible.”

Therriault points out it’s no secret why the hospital in Red Deer has gotten so much attention in recent years.

“There are additional needs we have, and there have been pressures due to staffing shortages and the global pandemic, but we definitely have a close relationship with the hospital where we work to find what the most critically-needed pieces are,” she adds.

In addition to the 3,049 square foot dream home, there are 123 other prizes to be won, valued at more than $1.2 million. That includes a 2022 Xtreme Outdoors MAX Trailer, an LG 55″ TV, a patio furniture set, Daymak electric bike, camping set, Dyson cordless vacuums, portable air conditioner and much more.
