Apr 12, 2023 | 3:37 PM

Both the Encana Dome at Shouldice Park in Calgary and the Foote Bubble on the campus of the University of Alberta in Edmonton will be busy places this April 14-16 weekend as Football Alberta kicks off the beginning of ‘Selection Camp Season’ with four camps.

The Team Alberta U18 Boys and Team Alberta U18 Girls teams, national finalists and national champions from 2022, respectively, begin selections along with the Senior Bowl South and U16 Boys Alberta Summer Games selections.

The following weekend, April 21-23, events switch places so that both ends of the province are able to try out, all leading up to the next stage for these players which will be over the May Long Weekend.

As well, the Team Alberta U18 Boys selection camp is the kick-off of events that will eventually lead to a team representing the province as the host in Edmonton this summer at the Football Canada Cup from July 7-16.

The Senior Bowl will take place at MEGlobal Stadium in Lacombe on Monday, May 22 at 12:00 p.m., and the Team Alberta U18 Girls team will defend their National Championship from last year in Ottawa from July 21-30.

The U16 Boys will head in several directions including the Alberta Summer Games in Okotoks from July 22-23, as well at the Western Championships in Regina from July 5-8.
