Library Giving Day campaign returns to support the Red Deer Public Library

Mar 30, 2023 | 4:34 PM

The Red Deer Public Library is raising funds through their Library Giving Day campaign to encourage local library lovers to make a gift to their local library.

The one-day campaign will take place on Tuesday, April 4.

“This campaign reminds us that libraries, small and large, serve as an important cornerstone for our communities, offering not just well-loved books, but also innovative programs to connect patrons to technology and encourage lifelong learning,” said Briana Ehnes, Events & Innovation Manager at Red Deer Public Library.

Officials confirm the donations from the 2022 Library Giving Day campaign went towards the Downtown Branch Toy Lending Library which allowed it to reopen after the pandemic, filled with brand new toys.

Funds this year, they say, will be allocated to the area of highest need, which could include collections, programs or other new initiatives.

“Libraries are special places where everyone is welcome, regardless of age, educational level or financial status. At a library, everyone is treated the same no matter what, and I think Red Deerians value that, and will graciously donate to support RDPL,” she said.

“Strong libraries build strong communities,” said Ehnes. “Please join us in spreading the word through our community and help us raise awareness and funds for Library Giving Day.”

Online donations can be made at rdpl.org/donate, or donations can be made in person at any branch.
