Future of energy highlighted at this year’s Innisfail Trade Show

Town officials say the future of energy in central Alberta and beyond will be highlighted at this year’s Innisfail Trade Show.

The Innisfail & District Chamber of Commerce hosts the Trade Show at the Innisfail Twin Arenas (5804 42 St) each year and this time, attendees can visit an area dedicated to conversations about the region’s energy potential.

Developed as an initiative of the Innisfail Energy Hub (IEH), the focus area at the show will feature electric vehicles, exhibitors involved in energy production and transmission, and a series of speakers addressing a wide range of related topics.

“This forum gives us the opportunity to talk to people about the work we’ve been doing over the past year and about some of the changes happening in the energy system,” said Ken Kowalchuk, the town’s Communications Coordinator and IEH participant.

The IEH was formed in September of 2022 as a collaboration between the Town and the Energy Futures Lab (EFL), an Alberta-based coalition working to accelerate the transitions occurring in the energy system. In past years, the EFL hosted roadshows in multiple communities across Alberta.

In 2022, the town says the organization changed strategy and worked exclusively with Innisfail from the autumn of 2022 until the spring of 2023. They say the relationship fostered the inception and growth of the IEH, a group of citizens who have developed a variety of community-based, energy-related projects, one of which was the IEH area at the Innisfail Trade Show.

Guest speakers with diverse backgrounds will be featured at the show, including:

  • Friday, March 31, 2023:
