A young Red Deer woman is facing charges after Mounties used a spike belt and a police dog to help apprehend a suspect in a stolen vehicle this week.

On Mar. 14, 2023, at approximately 07:06 p.m., the Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team (CRT) were conducting patrols when they observed a stolen Chevrolet Colorado. After the successful use of a tire deflation device, Mounties say the driver then lost control of the vehicle in Ponoka and fled on foot.

With the assistance of RCMP Police Dog Service, police say the suspect was located nearby and arrested.

  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Obstruct peace officer
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
